Day 1: Palermo/Agrigento/Piazza Armerina/Taormina
Today we will meet our chauffeur and drive across the countryside showcasing Sicily’s great variety of landscapes. We soon arrive in Agrigento, for an independent tour of the Valley of the Temples, a magnificent cluster of Greek ruins overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Later, we depart to Piazza Armerina (At moment the Roman Villa of Casale is on renovation until March 31, 2009. During this time we will swap this visit with the baroque town of Caltagirone famous for the Sicilian pottery) for a visit of the ruins of the Roman Villa of Casale on our own. The mosaics discovered here are celebrated among scholars of antiquity. Than, we drive along the coast to Taormina, the world famous resort town of Sicily.
